Garden Designer Alice Bowe:
Alice Bowe is an artist and garden designer with a passion for colour. Having studied Fine Art at Oxford University, she went on to complete postgraduate studies in Landscape Architecture at the prestigious Oxford College of Garden Design. Alice has been designing gardens since 2001 and continues to draw inspiration from all aspects of Art, Architecture and Design – painting with plants as well as paints in her exploration of colour and form.

Alice is also a renowned garden writer with a column in THE TIMES and is a regular contributor to the Garden Design Journal, Shoot and 100% Country Home. In addition, Alice has worked as a design and planting consultant for a number of television projects: designing gardens for the Channel 4 series ‘Streets Ahead’ with Sarah Beeney and most recently advising the Grand Design Teams on eco gardens and sustainable design in the garden.

Project Management : Garden Design project management is a key service we offer here at Alice Bowe English Landscapes – and a very popular one too. We are happy to administer the contract and mange the build of the project so that you can simply relax and leave the details to us. As contract administrator we will regularly inspect of the works to ensure they are in accordance with the specification and we will identify of any cost or time variances. In addition we will be able to assist with procedural items such as the agreement of stage payments, which can be very time consuming.

In our experience, engaging an accomplished project manager will save you time, stress and money – allowing the project to run smoothly.

Planting Plans: Planting plans are usually left until quite late in the design process. The sketch plan can give an indication of what style of planting would be used, and the detailed design may well identify certain key structural plants. However it is only in the later stages of the project, when the designer is more familiar with the site and the client – that the planting can best be tailored to fit.

Planting plans show the spacing of the recommended species of plant and symbols and text are used in combination so that they can be easily read by the lay reader.

Once the planting plans are agreed we will source, supply and plant the garden with the highest quality stock from selected nurseries.

A complementary illustrated maintenance plan is provided with every planting scheme to advise you on any necessary aftercare for your newly designed garden. This identifies all the plants and actions required to look after the garden.

This waterproof maintenance plan can either be used as a reference document for your own work in the garden, or can be passed to a gardener.

Garden restoration or re-design: Although the majority of our work involves developing and implementing a full-scale garden design, we are happy to simply revitalise or replant a garden with a new planting scheme. For details CLICK HERE
