Rosemary Verey. 1919 – 2001
Rosemary Verey was one of Britain’s best known gardeners, admired by English and American gardeners alike. A garden designer and author of many books including, ‘The Scented Garden’, ‘English Country Gardens’, ‘Garden Diary’ and ‘Making of a Garden’ , Rosemary Verey and her husband, the architectural historian David Verey, bought Barnsley House in the early 1960’s.

A tour of British gardens would not be complete without a visit to Barnsley House. With the well known features, including the kitchen garden, are classical herbaceous borders, rose hedges and the planned vistas of the beautiful English countryside beyond.
