The Collection is owned by one of the country’s leading horticultural companies Winchester Growers and has its permanent home at Varfell Farm in the shadow of St Michael’s Mount in Cornwall.
The Collection consists of over 1700 named varieties and species and is the only Dahlia Collection registered with the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens here in the UK.
The National Dahlia Society here in the UK issues a Classified Directory of Dahlias and in it they list ten different groups relating to flower and petal formation which is sub divided into flower sizes, other countries have a similar system but there are variations
