CONFUSED ABOUT COMPOST ?
A recent survey conducted by WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme) discovered that gardeners have a lot to learn when it comes to buying compost:
97% of amateur gardeners buy compost, but only 43% know what is in the bag they buy
41% have no idea whether the products they buy contain peat or not
24% have no idea what compost is made from
Price is the deciding factor with 65% of people who buy compost
Only 22% state reduced peat / peat free as being the deciding factor
73% of people who buy reduced peat / peat free do so for environmental reasons
92% said they would be likely to buy reduced peat / peat-free if they knew more about the benefits of using it
87% of people state that they recycle but only 41% have heard of compost which includes recycled materials
