Based in Coventry I specialise in galvanised steel wire to create unique and intricate animal and bird sculptures for both indoors and outdoors.
I took an interest in art from an early age and it was whilst doing A-Level art I made my first wire sculpture at the age of 15, this is where my interest in 3 dimensional art first started, I then went on to study Art and Design at Warwickshire College before continuing on to gain a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at De Montfort University.
I have now been a sculptor for 14 years, exhibiting at different venues and working on commissioned pieces both for private collections and public spaces during this time. I work predominantly in galvanised steel wire netting but I will also consider commissions in various other mediums, as one off pieces.
To understand the form and natural movement of the animal or bird I study photographs, videos, work from life studies and drawings, this allows me to create sculptures with intricate detail and capture the essence of the animal, therefore each piece takes many hours to create, and no two pieces are the same.
The wire netting is galvanised, but left open to the elements will eventually rust, sitting naturally within its environment.
Price is determined by size and complexity but generally falls between £700 – £2500
