We have included some fabulous venues and artists for Live Music in 2009
The following live music venues are unique locations with the Forestry Commission and include open air concerts by Katherine Jenkins, Jools Holland, Simply Red, Status Quo, McFly and Vanessa-Mae
Following two sell-out forest concerts in 2008, classical superstar Katherine Jenkins has announced she will be performing further woodland dates next summer as part of Forestry Commission Live Music 2009.
Re-defining the concept of classical crossover, Katherine has achieved global sales of more than three million. This autumn sees the release of her sixth album, Sacred Arias, from a remarkable mezzo soprano whose versatility has enabled her to tackle a wide variety of styles, from the great arias of opera to the classics of Hollywood. "I’ve never done a themed album before," she says. "I’ve always tended to collect requests and other songs, but these ones came very naturally and easily to me."
Commenting on the concerts, Katherine Jenkins said ‘Following my forest tour debut this year I am really looking forward to the opportunity of performing in some more of these beautiful and unique locations in 2009’.
Katherine Jenkins with the National Symphony Orchestra will be performing at:
Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest, Near Goudhurst, Kent on Sunday 7 June
Delamere Forest Park , Delamere, Cheshire on Sunday 14th June
As with all Forestry Commission venues no seating is provided. However the concert arena at Delamere is in a natural amphitheatre and a good proportion of the arena slopes to the stage area. For audience comfort and safety in the sloping area we recommend customers bring picnic rugs rather than folding chairs.
Tickets cost £32 (subject to booking fee) and go on sale at 9:00 am Friday 28 November
Forestry Commission Box Office: Telephone 01842 814612, or in person at the venue.
