The garden – Real Life by Brett – has been designed by Geoff Whiten, the Chelsea Flower Show’s longest-serving designer with more than 32 years’ experience and six gold medals to his name. The garden will utilise some of Brett’s newest products currently in development.

After its successful debut at Chelsea in 2007 when the company was awarded a Silver Medal, Brett had no hesitation in teaming up with Geoff Whiten again for the five-day horticultural extravaganza at the Royal Hospital.

Zack Barrett, marketing services manager at Brett Landscaping and Building Products, said that exhibiting at Chelsea not only raised the company’s profile with high-spending consumers but also demonstrated to the trade that Brett could provide both the products and the services to create wonderful gardens.

“Chelsea is the premier event in the horticultural calendar and our debut in 2007 was a huge success. The event provides us with an ideal opportunity to showcase our range of products and demonstrate our commitment to garden landscaping among our key clients, including builders’ merchants, landscape designers and contractors,” he added.

Geoff Whiten said: “Our theme in 2008 is adaptability and sustainability. The Real Life by Brett garden is all about real life aspirations and providing a flexible outdoor space that’s perfect for everyday living. Everyone’s aspirations change over the years so the Brett garden is designed to change with them and can be adapted to suit each stage of your life. At the same time, we wanted to create something that everyone could easily aspire to, no matter what their experience of gardening or the size of their plot.

“The garden incorporates a flexible, adaptable building, formal outdoor seating areas, three water features, a compost bin and a series of square and rectangle plant beds. The paved areas will be an attractive mix of pavers, aggregates and ground cover planting.

“The Brett garden is also environmentally friendly. The garden uses a choice of ethically-sourced materials, the design encourages composting and the harvesting of rainwater and it also encourages people to grow their own fruit and vegetables,” added Geoff.
