As a Garden Designer I offer a unique and personalised garden design service. I work to a specific brief, individual to each client and garden. Creating beautiful gardens which enhance the living environment and bring a sense of peace and tranquility into client`s everyday lives.

During the design process I gather fragments of information that will evolve into a cohesive garden design. To create a garden which is both aesthetically beautiful and functional for the practicalities of life. A design which will integrate the property with the garden and provide an interior-exterior living space.

Well versed in classical, traditional and modernist design principles. I work on a wide range of garden design projects from courtyard and city gardens to large rural and country gardens. My ‘Garden Design Practice’ encompasses all areas of design such as: Creative consultancy, out-line design, master plans, water features, lighting design, metal and glass design. Through to the softer elements such as planting design. Project management and overseeing are also available.

I often collaborate with architects, interior designers and other professionals working as a team on restoration, renovation and new build projects. I work with continual consultation with the client to ensure the brief is met and that a successful garden design and installation is achieved.

From the concept, through the construction to the completion.

Formal, Classical or Modernist.. the importance is always within the refinement and detail of the design.

As a Garden Designer I offer a Comprehensive range of services, from concept to completion. My Design consultancy also gives flexilbility of services tailored to your requirements. This can range from an ‘Individual Consultaion’, ‘Specific Design Elements’ you wish to develop or a ‘Complete Design Package’.

Design process

An introductory meeting would take place for us to meet on site, to discuss your project. Following this meeting relevant ‘Fees’ for the works which are clear at this stage would be provided. Once an agreement is made we move on to the next stage.

CREATIVE CONSULTANCY

Creative Consultancy offers constructive `Creative Sessions` to explore the potential of your garden. To potentially create a vision and direction of your project, address important decisions to be considered and approach any redevelopment in a practical and creative capacity to make the most of your garden.

During the meeting we will discuss what you wish to create, the process of achieving this, important elements, challenges of the garden and any other topic areas unique to your project and garden. Depending upon these we can look at creative options, the aesthetics of the garden, materials, planting and any other elements of importance. Simple sketch proposals can be fashioned on site during our discussions.

A consultancy may be for planning, design and planting advice where a full design is not required. It may be for any specific elements where you require creative and professional advice.

TOPIARY

Topiary has a multi-dimensional use in the garden. With the flexibility to be used within many design settings. Whatever the ‘concept’ and over-all ‘feel’ of the space, whether Formal, Classical or Modernist, clipped planting and topiary has a place.

Topiary has its roots deep in ancient civilisation. One often equates topiary with the french and Italianlic Gardens, yet its history takes us back to ancient Egypt and Persia.

The Oxford dictionary describes the word ‘Topiary’ as the Art of clipping trees and shrubs into ornamental shapes.
As in Latin ‘Topiarius’ means ‘Ornamental gardener’. However through time we see different and diverse forms of topiary.

I can work with you to create a specific garden space where topiary and clipped form are central elements of structure within the design.

This could range from Pleached Trees, various forms of clipped specimens such as Box, Buxus sempervirens, Cloud topiary and instant hedging elements. To name a few possibilities.

I work with specialist nurseries to offer you a service which will deliver high quality plants and finish.

THE KITCHEN GARDEN

A ‘Kitchen Garden’ adds another dimension to a garden, aesthetically and environmentally with the potential to produce beautiful, fresh, organic fruits and vegetables. Often with the combination of herbs, seasonal produce and fruit which can be complimented by companion planting and flowers.

The kitchen garden can take many diverse forms from a ‘traditional and formal’ layout to a more ‘organic and fluid scheme’. With the flexibility to be designated a specific, separate space within the overall garden or be more informally integrated through the garden.

Whichever way the ‘Kitchen Garden’ can be designed to cohesively integrate with the overall garden to suit the individual life style of the client.
