Medals and Awards at the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show
Four medal grades are available for award for horticultural exhibits at the Royal Horticultural Society’s shows. These are used by RHS Committees and judging panels who recommend awards for exhibits.
RHS Awards for Exhibits
The Royal Horticultural Society can award:
· GOLD MEDAL
· SILVER-GILT MEDAL
· SILVER MEDAL
· BRONZE MEDAL
For an exhibit that is judged to be below Bronze standard no award will be made.
All medals (with the exception of the GOLD MEDAL, which is not further qualified) are available in the following ranges according to the type of exhibit:
· Exhibits of Gardens, Flowers and Ornamental Plants are awarded in the FLORA medal range.
· Exhibits of Fruit are awarded in the HOGG medal range.
· Exhibits of Vegetables are awarded in the KNIGHTIAN medal range.
· Exhibits of Special Scientific or Educational Interest are awarded in the LINDLEY medal range.
Exhibits of Pictures, Photographs, Window Boxes and Hanging Baskets, Floral Arrangements and Floristry are awarded in the GRENFELL medal range.
Special awards at Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2006
· TUDOR ROSE AWARD – given to the best Gold medal exhibits in each of the following categories: the Floral Marquees; the Show Gardens and the Water Gardens.
· THE MOST ORIGINAL AND INNOVATIVE SHOW GARDEN or MOST CREATIVE GARDEN
· THE BEST SMALL GARDEN
· THE BEST CONCEPTUAL GARDEN
· THE BEST FLORAL MARQUEE EXHIBITOR NEW TO THE SHOW – Exhibits in the Daily Mail Pavilion and the Plant Heritage (NCCPG) Marquee are not eligible.
· THE BEST PLANT PLOT – Exhibitors in this category must devote a minimum of two thirds of the display area in front of the covered sales area to a quality horticultural display.
· THE BEST WINDOW BOX AND HANGING BASKET
· THE BEST EXHIBIT IN THE FESTIVAL OF ROSES
