Morning at leisure & the chance to shop at the Sunday markets. Welcome lunch at the Atmosphere Revolving Restaurant. After lunch enjoy a city tour of Kota Kinabalu, capital city of the Malaysian state of Sabah in northern Borneo.

Kota Kinabalu – Kundasang (B/L/D)
Traverse along Sabah’s Crocker Range to Mesilau. Meet the Park Ranger for the Nepenthes Trail walk.

Day 4 Tuesday, 17 March 2009

Poring (B/L/D)
At Poring Forest see epiphytes growing on the tree tops or enjoy the therapeutic waters of the Hot Springs.

Mt Kinabalu Park (B/L)
Full day at Mt Kinabalu Park, a World Heritage Site nominated by UNESCO.
Learn about the unique plants of Borneo including the carnivorous pitcher plants, rhododendrons & orchids.

Kota Kinabalu – Sepilok (B/L/D)
Morning flight to Sandakan heading to the Sepilok Orang Utan Centre. See the magnificent Orang Utans in their native habitat.

Day 7 Friday, 20 March 2009

Sepilok – Sukau (B/L/D)
Morning visit to the Chinese Temple. Then we cruise the Kinabatangan River to Sukau. In the evening, search for Proboscis Monkeys & other wildlife along the river.

Sukau – Kinabatangan River Lodge (B/L/D)
Morning cruise along the river for bird watching. In the evening, cruise along the river in search of wildlife.

Sandakan – Kota Kinabalu (B/L/D)
Cruise back to Sandakan. Visit the Agnes Keith House Museum – British colonial government building. Afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu.

Kota Kinabalu – Keningau (B/L/D)
Overland to Keningau via Tambunan with a stop at the Tambunan Rafflesia Centre.

Today we visit Tenom Agricultural Park, a paradise for plant lovers, filled with all the heliconias, gingers, bougainvilleas & tropical shrubs you could dream about.

After breakfast, return journey to Kota Kinabalu & the Nexus Resort. Afternoon is free to enjoy the resort’s facilities.
