Description

Thomas Sanderson, the UK’s leading supplier of patio awnings and conservatory blinds, is delighted to be sponsoring the Scenic Blue garden at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show: 23rd – 27th May 2006. The garden will be displayed in the Grand Pavilion and is set to attract much attention due to its innovative water saving solutions for the potential hosepipe ban at this year’s event.

The centerpiece of the garden is a flower shaped structure, which collects and funnels rainwater down to the roots of the surrounding plants, making it an inventive eco-friendly and energy efficient concept. With reports that this summer could bring the worst drought in 100 years, recycling rainwater is a shrewd approach to garden design.

As the UK’s leading provider of bespoke shading solutions for the home and garden, Thomas Sanderson was keen to support the shading aspect of this unique structure, which complements their range of garden patio awnings and conservatory blinds. Thomas Sanderson values the importance of good sun protection, which can help prevent against skin cancer – the most common cancer in the UK. For this reason both Thomas Sanderson conservatory blinds and patio awnings come with remote control options, making switching from sun to shade as simple as a touch of a button.

The garden, which has been entitled "Anna’s Sanctuary In The Shade", has been designed by Scenic Blue, the UK’s largest garden design and build company, as a stylish, shady outdoor room to escape the stresses of daily life. To complement the shading structure, the planting scheme combines strong architectural shapes with changing textures and a bold injection of colour, such as soft pinks, rich raspberries and a hint of orange.

Chris Manns, Senior Marketing Executive at Thomas Sanderson, comments, "As a long-standing exhibitor at the Chelsea Flower Show, we’re delighted to be sponsoring the Scenic Blue garden this year. The garden’s theme of shade and protection, perfectly matches two of the key reasons why people choose Thomas Sanderson Patio Awnings. We were also drawn to the unique design of the shade and its intelligent eco-approach to water saving. And of course, with Scenic Blue’s garden design expertise, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a prestigious Chelsea medal!"

Judy Behl, Managing Director of Scenic Blue, comments, "We are delighted that Thomas Sanderson is sponsoring our garden at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. Both Scenic Blue and Thomas Sanderson share the same visionary perception of viewing the garden as an outdoor room and for this reason Thomas Sanderson is the natural partner to be associated with on this exciting project".
