WATER GARDEN GW23
GRAND MARNIER/ANGLO AQUARIUM PLANT CO LTD

L’Esprit Jardin
Indulge your senses – see, hear, touch, taste and smell. Experience the spirit of this garden … Water connects powerfully with our senses, creating the flow of energy through a space. This simple, contemporary design emulates all that Grand Marnier represents: quality, authenticity and style, a premium, luxurious, elegant drink. These qualities are reflected in the garden through clean lines and quality finishes.

Materials have been chosen to replicate those used in the production of Grand Marnier, including copper representing traditional copper pot stills, oak echoing fired oak casks and amber glass emulating the colour of the liqueur. The balanced geometry of the allées of Vitis vinifera creates a strong visual axis at the centre of the garden.
Lush green planting flanks the sides and rear of the garden, adding to the structure and geometry.

By creating a beautiful place in which to drink the liqueur, this garden encourages you to enjoy the Grand Marnier experience, enticing you to wander in and learn about their history whilst enjoying the tactile, sensual experience of a water garden and all that it has to offer. This garden provides a platform for Grand Marnier to communicate its new “outdoor socialising” position of sharing with a friend or connecting with a stranger.

WATER GARDEN GW24
LILIES WATER GARDENS
View Across the Water
As the glowing sun rises over the hill
Casting shadows on its way Nature responds in its own special way
The water lilies begin to unfurl their petals
Moorhens stir amongst the rushes
And the grass glistens in the heavy dew
A flock of geese flies overhead
And we observe the wonders of the world
In our view across the water

This is a garden located on the edge of a small lake, with hills in the distance. A wooden jetty joins the lake to the garden.
The planting comprises water lilies, marginal plants, shrubs and a range of dry and moisture-loving herbaceous plants. Dwarf conifers – deciduous and evergreen trees – have been introduced to create perspective. A small jetty and winding road provide a focal point at the back of the garden.

WATER GARDEN GW25
MOUNT VENUS NURSERY

Infinity
This simple, functional and contemporary design has been inspired by city green spaces and canals. Observed from above, the formal layout resembles a Tibetan mandala. A series of concentric circles form a path lined with lush, mature woodland planting. A three metre wide, raised circular swimming channel seeps over as a curtain of droplets into a circular reed bed filtration channel, which encloses a sunken patio.

The circular path and swimming channel take you through a striking, repetitive planting scheme of tall bamboo and trees underplanted with woodland perennials, creating the impression of infinity. Stroll through this garden and enjoy a moment of peace in the midst of a busy show.

WATER GARDEN GW27
WORLD OF WATER

Summertime
Pete Sims, the award-winning designer of this water garden, recently completed a large project in Dorset. He spent the winter with his team working on the coast through the short, dark days, with the wind howling around them. Then, towards the end of the project, summer arrived. The daylight hours lengthened, and the sun shone on the beautiful Purbeck hills. Pete has designed this garden using hand-picked Purbeck rocks, and because water gardens come to life in the summer, he has called it Summertime.

An island nestles in the centre of a large pond, accessed via a timber bridge. On the far side of the island, a rustic timber building offers a sheltered space for enjoying the garden when the sun is just too hot. The pond features large clumps of mature lilies, and is edged with dense planting of marginal and moistureloving plants. A stream cascading through Purbeck rocks adds movement and life to the pond. Larger rocks have been used to retain the bank on the sloping site, and as a stepping stone path
to the island.

The garden is naturalistic in style, sheltered by mature shrub borders to give excellent protection from the elements. Native planting is combined with a selection of more exotic plants to create a tranquil, relaxing garden where wildlife is encouraged and enjoyed.
